General Sports Information
Athletic Programs:
Saint Pius X Catholic School Athletic Program exists to allow students the opportunity to experience unity, sportsmanship; skill development, physical fitness, and most importantly fun. Our programs are for students enrolled in 5th through 8th grade. St. Pius Athletic programs want to develop the entire athlete. It is to assist in developing bodies, minds, and spiritual beings into strong and contributing members of our society and our Church.
Dallas Parochial League:
The Dallas Parochial League (DPL) is an entity governed by the Elementary Principals' Association (EPA) of the Diocese of Dallas. The DPL serves as the official athletic league of the Diocese as commissioned by the EPA. The DPL offers athletic leagues and events throughout the year for its 29 member schools. The DPL currently offers 12 sports for student participation. Some sports are structured as leagues with postseason playoffs, while others are in the form of meets or tournaments. It is our sincere hope that athletics can provide a positive extra-curricular mechanism helping bring our larger community together in the spirit of friendly competition.
Athletic Fees:
Athletic fees are the Dallas Parochial League assessed fees. The cost of participation in a sport is $75-$125. These fees pay for DPL fees as well as practice equipment and school-issued equipment. All fees are collected before a child may practice and/or receive game equipment and uniforms.
Eligibility:
All students in 5th-8th grade are welcome to participate in SPX sports. Students must maintain and remain in good standing during each grading period in order to participate in competition. Monitoring of grades, conduct, and overall behavior in the classroom is checked every two weeks and during each grading period.
Coaching:
All SPX coaches are volunteer parents or non-parents. Coaches must be Safe Environment cleared and current with their annual required training.
The Dallas Parochial League also requires all volunteer coaches to attend one “Play like a Champion” workshop; the workshops are approximately two hours in length and held at area DPL schools throughout the school year.
