Hello! My name is Ms. Nelson. I am the Dyslexia Therapist and Learning Lab teacher here at St. Pius X Catholic School. This is my first year teaching here. I am very excited to be able to work with this community!
I was born and raised in Texas. I come from a small family. It's just the four of us. I have a beautiful cat, Cotton. My family lives here in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area. Since I was a junior in high school, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher so I went to college and received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Special Education. Recently, I received my Master's Degree in Education specializing in Dyslexia.
I have fifteen years experience as an educator in Texas. Eight years have been in the public school system and six years in the Catholic schools for the Diocese of Dallas. For the past four years I have been working with students with dyslexia using the Take Flight program.
I am a "cradle" Catholic! I love being able to incorporate my faith into my lessons where the students are able to learn what our faith is all about and incorporate it into their life. It truly is a rewarding experience to watch the students grow deeper into their faith while strengthening their relationship with Christ.
I love spending time with my family and my friends, volunteering in the community and at my church, and just relaxing with my cat, Cotton when I have the chance!
