Course Description

4th grade students will learn & apply ways to build their relationships with God.  We will discuss topics such as the Ten Commandments, Beatitudes, Virtues, Gifts & Fruits of the Holy Spirit, as well as practicing our faith in all parts of our lives.  Students will attend and actively participate in a weekly mass.  4th grade is also the year that students will complete a Saints Project.   Students will research the lives of a chosen saint, dress up as the Saint, and be able to share facts of their Saint through a living museum.  Our Saints project will be a part of the All Saints Day (Holy Day of Obligation) mass.
Students will also be required to present a "current event" article called "Praying the News".  Students are encouraged to find, summarize, and provide articles that are theme-based; why we should pray for those involved in the article; as well as lead our class in prayer.
Students will also participate in the Sacraments of Reconciliation throughout the year, and Holy Communion during school masses.  Our class will be required to "lead a mass" - this means that our students will have active roles such as a Presenter, Lector, Responsorial Psalm Reader, readers of General Intercessions, as well as Presenters of the Gifts.  All students will have the opportunity to serve in the school year.
4th grade students are also expected to learn, memorize, and recite the following: The Apostles' Creed, Hail Holy Queen, as well as the ability to recite The Rosary.
